John Pinsent is a founding partner at St. Arnaud Pinsent Steman Chartered Professional Accountants. Prior to this, he had a successful ten-year career as an Assurance Senior Manager at Ernst and Young LLP. John received a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Commerce (AD) from the University of Alberta. 

He articled with Ernst & Young LLP and became a Chartered Accountant in 1996. Throughout his career, John has delivered a wide range of client services, with a focus on providing cost-effective not-for-profit reporting assistance, preparing annual financial statements, and supporting good governance development. With over 25 years of experience in public practice, John has built a strong network of contacts in different industries. He leverages this network to support his clients in building value for their organizations and raising awareness for their programs.

Among his diverse not-for-profit clients are BioAlberta, Kidsport Alberta, the Canadian Mental Health Association, and many others. In addition to his client work, John has received numerous awards and has served on various volunteer boards, including Boyle Street Community Services and Capital Roads.

John's commitment to community involvement extends to his participation in local charities such as The Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta Education Foundation and the Special Olympics. He has received recognition for his outstanding contributions, including the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012.

Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with his family, including his five children and two cherished grandchildren. He is also an avid golfer, although he admits his passion far exceeds his skill level.
